Twitter’s data science organization has grown from 15 people in 2016 to 80 people by the end of this year. In this talk, Miguel Ríos, head of Consumer Data Science at Twitter, will present how they used data and engineering-driven processes to expand their organization globally, the lessons they learned along the way, and the ongoing challenges they face as they prepare for future growth.
Miguel Ríos-Berríos leads the Consumer Data Science organization at Twitter, a global team of 70+ data scientists, engineers, and analysts working on understanding how people use Twitter. Since joining Twitter as an intern in 2010, Miguel has led multiple efforts in the company, mostly building products & services that extract and highlight insights from Twitter's complex datasets.
Before Twitter, Miguel worked as a Researcher in UMD's Human-Computer Interaction Lab. He has a BS in Computer Engineering. He was born and raised in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, and has a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez.
